About Delaware Lodge #37

Delaware Lodge #37 A.F. & A.M. is a Masonic Lodge located in Dagsboro, Delaware, proudly serving the community of Sussex County since 1967.

Our History

On April 7, 1967, Grand Master R. Franklin Gordy granted a dispensation for the formation of a new Lodge in Millville, Delaware, known as Delaware Lodge, U.D.

At the following Grand Lodge Annual Communication, the Committee on Charters reported that they had examined the officers of this Lodge, that the 30 members were competent and able to support a new Lodge, and a charter be issued. On October 5, 1967, a charter was granted to Delaware Lodge No. 37 to meet in Millville, naming Paul L. Jackson, a Past Master of Doric Lodge No. 30, as their Worshipful Master.

They were formally constituted on October 21, 1967 by Grand Master Elmer W. Randall, Jr. On September 7, 1969, a Special Communication of Grand Lodge was convened for the purpose of dedicating and consecrating Delaware No. 37's new Lodge building in Dagsboro โ€” a former church that required extensive work by the members to convert it into a Masonic facility.

What is Freemasonry?

Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and largest fraternal organizations. It teaches moral lessons and self-knowledge through participation in a progression of allegorical two-act plays. Freemasonry instills in its members a moral and ethical approach to life: it seeks to reinforce thoughtfulness for others, kindness in the community, honesty in business, courtesy in society, and fairness in all things.

Our members are asked to practice outside the Lodge those great qualities so essential to all good men โ€” namely, Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth.
